Hey! I'm Christine, a lover of colour and books. I'm also an avid lover of chocolates, imaginations, cats, writing, designing and reading.
May 01, 2019 Chapter 1
I tried my absolute best to hide the tears that had began pouring as my eyes took in the sight of poor Lila, my best and only friend, getting her heart crushed and trampled on by Josh Evans in front of the entire field.
My heart gave another beat and honestly, it felt as if a rusty knife had been forced into it. I quietly watched the painful scene, my throat all clogged up and my body all tensed up. Lila's baby green eyes were full of the salty liquid, some of which had already found its way down to her white blouse.
"But... You said... You claimed... You said that you loved me..."
"Love is such a strong word, my lovely Lila," Josh spoke in a soothing voice that easily betrayed his gruesome personality.
"Babe."
And here we go. Sassy Sally. Deputy cheerleader and president of the poetry club. The ginger stuck herself to him like moths to glue and she earned a French kiss in return.
"Hang on," the boy responded, hugging her and added her another kiss, this time at her cheek. I'm sure Lila's heart must have smashed to a tillion pieces if not a billion at this disgusting PDA.
I sighed.
Why was she crying? She had brought it to herself. I had warned her.
Begged her even. I had predicted doom, dark gloomy days and teary nights but she hadn't listened.
Not one bit.
She initially claimed that I had been jealous that it was she who got chosen and not me.
But I wasn't.
I never heard.
God knows I tried. I tried protecting her. Lila was the talkative type. She told me everything and when I said everything, I meant everything. I had deleted their chats, canceled their dinner dates, interrupted their kissing times, kick him out of the house... Heck! There was even a time when I tried dumping my friend's phone in the toilet bowl!
That's how much I tried. I did that because I cared. And because I loved her...
It didn't work unfortunately... None of my plans ever did.
Josh always had a plan B. A backup plan. When Lila found out what I had done, she had been beyond furious. She hurled the nastiest insults, poured yoghuet on my dark hair and pulled Josh Evans with her, where he made her lean to his locker in order to steal a kiss from her.
I could have sworn I saw an evil smile on his lips at that time.
