These platforms have helped users maintain long distance communication and relationships while creating room form vices such as narcissism, internet addiction and cyberbullying or harassment. These often lead to some people losing their ability to sustain physical connections and/or to be more valuable to mankind. Moreover, social networking has given rise to some of the scariest cases of online predators indulging in identity thefts, libel etc. that often distorts their victims lives forever.

Technology remains the only bedrock via which our species can transcend beyond the stars. However, we must ensure some checks and balances are incorporated whether on a personal level or on a national or global level to confine its use to more productive endeavors.

One chilling Saturday evening, Emma was home alone in her family's Lagos residence pondering how best to spend her post-graduation break in the absence of her brother who ditched her for a late-night party.
