If not, how would a reasonable man be exhibiting pride to his own wife, the mother of his children? In most instances, pride degenerates to frustrations which consequently lead to a fight, whenever some men brutalize their wives. I trust; no one would want to be paid in his own coin, especially in a mishap. Being a real man is not just by patriarchal rigidity. It comes with some cultural flexibilities. Even in the face of some cultural standing factors, men should be compassionate to women for losing everything to us, including their nature and last names. By and large, equilibrium would only be achieved in any marriage when there are balanced weights on both sides. Couples, spouses, or husbands and wives are meant to unconditionally support each other to achieve a family stability and common interest. There is no coexistence or cohabitation, where there is no proper or symbiotic support. The true men live by a good legacy, and not, just by bragging on a meaningless superiority over the wife. A word is enough for the wise.

El poder de la poesía.A finales de un verano del siglo x, un perspicaz y combativo islandés llamado Egill Skallagrimsson zarpó hacia Inglaterra, evitando hacer escala en Noruega, donde se había ganado la enemistad del rey, Erik Hacha Sangrienta, en años pasados Egill pronto lamentó haber emprendido el viaje. Primero, su barco naufragó en las costas septentrionales de Inglaterra y luego, una vez consiguió alcanzar tierra, cayó en manos de su viejo enemigo Erik, quien había sido expulsado de Noruega por su hermano y ahora ocupaba el trono de Northumbria, en la York vikinga.Erik condenó a Egill a la pena capital y le concedio una noche para prepararse. Though the Aloha Spirit law was officially recognized in the year 1986, it still remained symbolic in its application. Nobody persecutes you for not being nice, because, well, that won’t be nice either! Rather, amongst the natives, if your neighbors notice that you are not doing something nice – living according to the statutes of the Aloha Spirit Law. He or she would be chastised during community meetings. Same goes for politicians and business owners, who if found to err, the natives will find a way to put you out of the office or cut you out of business. Siempre me gustó viajar en bus. De Valencia a Trujillo hay aproximadamente 7 horas de camino. O eso creo... Ese era el viaje más largo que recuerdo haber hecho sola. De Valencia a Ocumare de la Costa de Oro deben haber unas 3 horas de recorrido y aunque las playas de Puerto Cabello me quedaban más cerca de mi hogar, yo siempre preferí las playas del estado Aragua. Desierto, niebla, selva y volcán. En Venezuela sobran las opciones de climas y experiencias para escoger. Escribo esto totalmente convencida de que nos encaminamos a futuro donde reinará la paz y la libertad y donde el turismo será una de nuestras fuentes de riqueza. No siempre fuimos el país de los funerales, no siempre vivimos una dictadura cruenta, nuestro gobierno no siempre se caracterizó por ser un narcoestado asesino, tampoco nuestro estado regular fue morir de hambre y sin medicamentos esperando que la ayuda humanitaria llegara desde alguna parte. Hubo tiempo que podíamos experimentar cosas que no tenían nada que ver con la miseria. Fuimos un país hermoso y yo todavía puedo recordarlo. Les contaré un poco sobre eso, recuerdos que vienen desde mis dos lugares favoritos…Cuando viajaba desde Valencia a Trujillo, una fina niebla me recibía acompañada de un profundo olor a vaca y a todo tipo de ganado, además podía admirar la vegetación tradicional de los páramos andinos. A más de 1400 metros sobre el nivel del mar, les aseguro que jamás estuve tan cerca del cielo. La temperatura bajaba drásticamente, podía llegar 13ºC o incluso menos durante la madrugada y eso era demasiado bajo en comparación a los 36ºC a los que estaba acostumbrada. Yo era una muchacha proveniente de una ciudad calurosa que se aventuraba a internarse en el corazón de Los Andes, en busca de soledad y frío. “Cuidado con los osos frontinos… No se vaya por esos lares…” decía la gente del pueblo cuando uno cruzaba el páramo a lo lejos. De camino a la Laguna de los Cedros, alguien también podía decir: “cuidado con los momoyes, se llevan a las niñas bonitas”. Los momoyes son una especie de duendes, reconocidos como espíritus del agua dedicados a proteger a la naturaleza, tienen el poder de invocar la lluvia y las crecidas de río y es sabido que se han robado a muchos niños, pero yo no era una niña, es solo que luzco terriblemente joven para mi verdadera edad y la gente sentía de alguna forma que debían advertirme sobre esto. En Trujillo es normal recibir un consejo o advertencia en todo momento, la espesa vegetación, la poca luz y las bajas temperaturas se convierten en el contexto perfecto para que cualquier animal pueda atacarte o algún alma en pena se acerque y te dé un susto de muerte, algo que la gente del lugar no desea para los foráneos. Además de estos detalles, me llamaba la atención que, sin siquiera saberlo, los pobladores llevaban una dieta orgánica y bastante sana. La arepa, tradicional en toda Venezuela y ahora en el mundo, se preparaba de una forma tan sana que era sorprendente. No se trataba de harina de maíz tostado, procesada y molida, conocida por nosotros como “harina Pan”, nuestra marca más icónica, las arepas en Trujillo eran totalmente artesanales. Los pueblerinos suelen sembrar el maíz, cosechar y desgranar las mazorcas, dejan remojando los granos por varios días, cocinan estos granos en una fogata con leña, después realizan el proceso de molerlo de forma manual y el resultado de esto será la masa con las que prepararán las arepas, unas que no se parecen en nada a las arepas clásicas del centro del país. No, las arepas de Trujillo tienen un aroma, sabor, color y forma muy diferente.En Ocumare de la Costa de Oro, las arepas son las mismas que puedes encontrar en todos lados, pero lo que realmente destaca en esta costa es su increíble chocolate. Siempre me he definido a mí misma como “nieta del páramo e hija del mar”, por eso la mayoría de mis viajes desembocaban en el océano. Mi conexión con Ocumare de la Costa de Oro es algo especial, se trata de un municipio repleto de playas apasionadas, con olas salvajes y perfectas para surfear. Agua fría, arena caliente. Viento fresco, sol radiante, gente risueña. Cada playa tiene su riachuelo de agua dulce con peces y pequeñas cascadas. Si hablamos de gastronomía de playas venezolanas, lo mejor que puedes comerte en Ocumare es un pescado súper fresco, con tostones y ensalada, algunas cervezas y un toque de limón, sentado frente a la playa disfrutando de toda la belleza del Mar Caribe. Si algún día tienen la dicha de ir a Ocumare de la Costa de Oro, escojan este menú como almuerzo. En Venezuela, es muy común consumir encurtidos de mariscos frescos que tienen un sabor ácido semi-picante y en general, son muy deliciosos. Este tipo de encurtidos, tradicionales de las playas de mi país, tienen un poderoso efecto afrodisiaco y pueden encontrarse bajo diversos nombres llamativos, diseñados para darle a entender a sus consumidores que tendrán el mejor sexo de su vida si comen estos “rompe colchón”, “levanta muertos”, “vuelve a la vida”, “7 potencias”. Sin duda los afrodisiacos playeros más famosos que se han convertido en parte importante de nuestra idiosincrasia y nuestra cultura.Los nativos de Ocumare de la Costa de Oro son diferentes también a los nacidos en Trujillo. Los trujillanos son tímidos y divertidos, hospitalarios, muy amables, temerosos, ingenuos y místicos. Los costeños en cambio son prácticos, rápidos, dicharacheros, malhumorados a veces, bromistas por naturaleza y toscos, como la gente de mar. Siempre me llevé muy bien con los andinos y con los costeños, con los maracuchos y con los orientales, con los caraqueños y con los gochos. En cada región o estado, podrás encontrar a una versión distinta del venezolano. Escribo todo esto mientras voy rumbo al sur, en bus, siempre viajando en bus. Nueve días de camino estarán alejándome ahora mismo de mi tierra. Y de la misma forma que comer afrodisiacos en la playa, escuchar al temido espectro del Silbón en medio de la noche o dejar salir nuestra risa estruendosa, del mismo modo, la diáspora y el exilio se ha convertido en parte de nuestra idiosincrasia también. Los emigrantes más sonados en las redes sociales, los que inundaron Latinoamérica y el mundo denunciando que en su país, una dictadura criminal los estaba matando de una forma tan inverosímil, que incluso hay personas que piensan que se trata de una exageración o de alguna clase de montaje. Supongo que es difícil para el género humano aceptar que después de tantos siglos de civismo, los genocidios siguen ocurriendo y pueden estar sucediendo en el país hermano. Un día volveré a los brazos de mi querida madre, mi tierra, la que me vio crecer entre Ocumare y Trujillo. En cierto modo, haber atravesado tantas desgracias nos ha ayudado a ampliar nuestra visión de mundo. Considero que pronto todos podremos volver con aprendizajes nuevos y planes de reconstruir nuestra nación, hermosa y prospera, como siempre debió haber sido.Por ahora me preparo para continuar mi viaje, no quiero ser una de esas emigrantes que no deja de hablar de Venezuela y molesta a todos a su alrededor. Así que me limitaré a plasmar mis pensamientos y emociones por escrito, mientras comienzo a asumir esta nueva experiencia en un país más frío, pero igualmente bello.
