La vida es tan impredecible que muchas veces me sorprende, un momento sientes que todo va bien y quieres que todo se quede igual, pero tristemente tú no eres quien decide eso, pues justo en se momento la vida se encarga de cambiarlo todo y llevarte por otro camino. Muchas veces no entiendes el por qué de las cosas, pero a la larga te das cuenta que era lo que necesitabas y que todo pasa por algo en su justo momento. La semana pasada nos reunimos a hablar sobre ellos, sobre sus vida, recordar sus hazañas…A ponernos nostálgicos un buen rato. Hablamos de las veces que no hicieron las cosas bien y las otras muchas veces que cometieron grandes locuras, sobre lo mucho que siempre estuvimos orgullosos de ellos y quizá nunca lo supieron. Pero Juan y yo estamos aquí.Parece que te estoy hablando de muertos, pero en realidad no es así, te hablo de aquellos que se fueron tan rápidamente que fue imposible creerlo. Algunos tardaron meses en irse, para eso me pude preparar, pero otros en cuestión de días caminaban hacia nuevos horizontes, cambiando todo lo que sabían, guardando su vida en una pequeña maleta.Ahora ellos están bien, cada uno en su camino construyendo su propia vida, dando lo mejor de sí, trabajando para obtener el éxito. Seguimos hablando, los sigo teniendo a mí lado, aún son mis amigos y mi familia, aún me apoyan, aún me divierto con ellos, pero ya no estamos tan cerca.Todos se llevaron algo de mí hacia a sus diferentes destinos y yo me quede con un pedacito de ellos, con sus recuerdos, sus expresiones, sus anécdotas… y la promesa de quizá dentro de algún tiempo, tomarnos juntos de nuevo un café o una cerveza, comer, reír y contar estas anécdotas en su presencia, oír sus versiones y estar juntos otra vez.

- ¿Ves la temperatura del agua? -le pregunté a mi reflejo.- Esta a 3 ° C. -respondió él.- ¿Por qué? -preguntó de vuelta.- Porque ni aun así se podría apagar la frustración que inunda mi cabeza. -comencé a explicarle sentándome en el piso, a un lado de la bañera, mientras esta se llenaba. - Observa bien, -le dije- mis brazos están heridos. ¿Ves toda la sangre que corre de mi pecho? Mis piernas ya no pueden moverse, el dolor es muy grande, mis pies están hinchados y ya no puedo seguir caminando. -Podría jurar que perdió todas esas cosas; era tan real, incluso diría que podría palpar la sangre.-¿Te duele mucho? -preguntó, parecía preocupada.- Sí, demasiado.- ¿En serio? ¿Y eso qué? -regresó a su indiferencia.- Que seguiremos en este tormento. -Me recargue a un lado de la bañera; ya no me enfrentas con fuerzas.- No. -Dijo puesta en pie con una firmeza que no había escuchado antes. - Eso es lo que a ti te atormenta; yo, en realidad no existo. -Dijo, viendo el agua caer de la llave.- ¿De qué hablas? -pregunté siguiendo su mirada, incorporándome en pie.- De todo. ¿Has visto alguna vez tu propio rostro? -Preguntó seriamente. Yo estaba a punto de asentir cuando mi reflejo respondió.- No es así -se respondió a si misma, aún sin verme a los ojos.- Por supuesto, lo visto millones de veces. -respondí tajante.- No es verdad, solo ves lo que tu mente quiere que veas; y mueres a como ella te aconseja.- Dices que no he visto nunca mi rostro, -dije frunciendo el ceño- pero puedo verte a ti. -Ella volvió su mirada a mí.- Entonces, si me ves, haz caso a lo que digo.- ¿A qué te refieres? ¿Qué haz dicho? -murmura expectante. Ella esbozó una leve sonrisa, apenas perceptible.- Mira tus brazos. -dijo levantando la voz; al mismo tiempo que toma mis manos.- Mira tus brazos no están heridos, -dijo extendiendo sus propios brazos, - mira tu pecho en realidad no sangra; mira tus piernas aun se mueven, mira tus pies no están hinchados. -cuando terminó de decir esto, ya estaba en el suelo otra vez.- ¿Y eso qué tiene? -pregunté sollozando.- ¿Qué es lo que te impide continuar?- En realidad no lo sé. -dije antes de llorar por completo.- ¡Solo es tu mente! ¡Solo es algo vano! ¡Solo es algo, abstracto! -finalizó.- ¿Y qué haces aquí? ¿Cuál es tu trabajo?- Salvarte a ti.- ¿Cómo lo harás?- Abriendo tus ojos. ¿Sabes qué es lo que te impide estar de pie?- Mis piernas -dije volviendo el rostro al suelo.- ¡No! -volvió a decir- ¿No lo entiendes? ¡Es tu mente! ¡Son tus pensamientos!- ¿Pero de qué hablas? ¿Tu no vienes de mi mente?- No; yo vengo de ahí. -dijo señalando mi pecho. - De tu corazón. -finalizó.- ¿Entonces, me quieres ayudar?- Por supuesto. -Hizo una pausa.- Como ya te había dicho, estoy aquí para abrirte los ojos, para decirte la verdad que tu mente no te deja ver.- ¿Y, cuál es la verdad?- Que puedes hacerlo.- ¿Hacer qué?- Que hacer; todos los sueños que ha tenido, todos los planos y las metas que ha trazado. ¿Ya es tiempo no crees? -finalizó volviendo un sonreír brevemente.- ¿Tiempo de qué?- De quererte un poco, de tomarte en cuenta, de caminar a la derecha mientras sonríes; de amarte a ti misma. Porque es tu propia mente la que a veces miente, te destroza y te desanima, te llena de intrigas y de desanima. -Ambas respiramos hondo.- ¡Pero ya basta! ¡Ya es suficiente! Ya es tiempo de que empieces a creer en ti, recupera el valor, levanta la vista, seca las lágrimas y sonríe al mundo. Escucha hay personas que dicen que para evitar un momento incómodo la risa es el mejor instrumento, y eso es cierto; es cierto no todo es risa; pero tampoco todo es llanto, puedes reír y puedes amar. Ya te ha lamentado demasiado y ahora es tiempo de ser feliz.Perdí la noción de lo que pasaba al rededor mientras yo hablaba, y de pronto, me descubrí sonriendo, pesar de las lágrimas que aún podía sentir en las mejillas estaba sonriendo, por fin, después de tanto tiempo, y no era una risa fingida , era vivacidad autentica.- Tienes razón. La única razón para que una persona no sea feliz es porque no lo intenta; sí, es cierto que tenemos problemas, ¿pero, quien no los tiene?- ¡Exacto!- Sí, vale la pena vivir.

CAPÍTULO 6:A la mañana siguiente Chrystal tenía tarea que hacer y no usó ninguna de sus redes sociales. Chrystal se enfocó más en su escuela y se olvidó un poco del tema del Farid. Así llegó el día sábado, ese día Chrystal iría a la casa de Kusum al igual que sus otras dos amigas.Era de mañana, revisó su celular y vio el mensaje de Farid:- ¿Cómo estás? ¿Por qué no te habías conectado?- Estoy bien; he estado un poco ocupada.- Pensé que te había pasado algo, estaba preocupado.- ¿Te pasa algo?- Estoy bien, pero necesito verte.- ¿Por qué? ¿Qué ocurre?- Te lo explicaré más tarde.- Pero hoy tengo algo que hacer.- No te preocupes. Nos encontraremos.- ¿A qué te refieres?- ...Chrystal ya no tenía miedo de Farid, sino de lo que le pudiera ocurrir a alguno de sus conocidos o familiares. Y esa manía de intrigar la y después no responder la estaba molestando.Más tarde cuando Chrystal se dirigía a la casa de Kusum, de repente ésta la llamaba:- ¡Kusum! Estoy por llegar a tu casa.- ¿De verdad? ¡Qué pena! No podré recibirlas hoy.- ¿Por qué? ¿Qué pasa?- Acaban de avisarle a mis padres que mi abuelo se puso mal, creo que tuvo un infarto, está en el hospital, así que iremos a verlo.- ¡No te preocupes, verás que se mejorará!- Eso espero. ¿En serio no te molesta? - Para nada, entiendo la situación, no te preocupes.- Está bien, ya les he enviado mensajes a Sibel y a Trisha.- Bien, si necesitas algo, me hablas, ¿de acuerdo?- Sí, gracias, disculpa, adiós.Kusum se escuchaba algo alterada y no era para menos, una de las personas que más quería estaba hospitalizado.Chrystal llegó al parque que estaba cerca de la casa de Kusum y se sentó en una banca; que es el mismo parque por el que ella había pasado noches anteriores, en donde había visto a Farid. Un par de minutos después llegaron Sibel y Trisha, saludaron a Chrystal con un beso en la mejilla:- Hola, se canceló la película de hoy, ¿no? -inició Trisha.- Sí, ¿Kusum ya les explicó que es lo que ocurre? - De hecho no, a mí solamente me dijo que no podría atender nos el día de hoy -respondió Sibel.- A mí también me dijo eso.- Bueno, Kusum me dijo que a su abuelo le había dado un infarto y lo habían llevado al hospital; sus padres y ella irían a verlo.- Entiendo, que feo.- Sí, que mal -dijo Sibel viendo el suelo- ¿Pero entonces que haremos? - ¿Qué tienes en mente? -preguntó Trisha sentándose a lado de Chrystal.- Pues Mauricio me dijo que estaría el fin de sema a en su casa solo, ya que que padres harían un pequeño viaje como pareja a San Cristóbal.- Entonces quieres que vayamos a su casa -continuó Chrystal.- Ajá, podemos pedir una pizza, ver una película o jugar jenga o lo que ustedes quieran.- ¿Estás segura? Digo estarás tú con Mauricio y nosotras dos ahí de apestada, -dijo Trisha, que no tenía muchas ganas de ir.- Mauricio puede presentarte a alguno de sus amigos si así lo quieres, además no creo que prefieran regresar a sus casas, ¿o sí?- La verdad no, llegarán mis sobrinos y no quiero tener que soportarlos hoy.- ¡Lo ves! ¿Y tú Chrys, regresarás a casa?- No, estaré sola en casa.- ¿Hasta hoy trabaja tu mamá?- Sí, hoy tenía que hacer ese simulacro del que te hablé.- ¿Entonces qué deciden? -Sibel y Trisha voltearon a ver a Chrystal para ver que respondía.- Está bien vamos. -Dijo poniéndose de pie.

-Pero, ¿Qué mal ha hecho este hombre?- pensaba para sus adentros el procurador romano. ¡Qué extraño..! Demasiado extraño a decir verdad. Un hombre con una carrera militar destacable en el mejor ejercito que la historia antigua haya conocido. Acostumbrado a las rudezas y crudezas de la guerra. Desalmado a la hora de ejecutar una sentencia sin piedad y sin compasión, ahora parecía estar desarmado ante la pasividad e inocencia que este hombre destilaba por todos lados. No sabía por qué, pero le resultaba difícil poder dictar la sentencia. Simplemente no quería. Podía ver la inocencia de este hombre hasta con los ojos cerrados. Podía respirarla. La escuchaba en el silencio en el que él se negaba a defenderse o a reclamar un juicio justo.¡Qué extraño! Por lo general, Pilato, jamás acostumbraba a detenerse a pensar en la posible inocencia de sus prisioneros. El solo ejecutaba su sentencia sin tantos rodeos. Una o dos pruebas, o testigos, eran suficientes para proclamar una sentencia “justa” para cualquier malhechor. Ya había vivido esto muchas veces; Los juicios, las acusaciones, el acusado, los acusadores, la sentencia y la ejecución eran parte de su vida como militar y gobernador. Sin embargo, nunca se había topado con alguien semejante a este carpintero de Nazaret, a quien todos demandaban ejecutarle de inmediato. Nunca había visto a alguien igual. Asombrado. ¿Cómo era posible que un hombre pudiera callar ante las acusaciones que, hasta Pilato sabía, eran falsas? Le resultaba difícil aceptar que un hombre callara sabiéndose inocente. No tenía lógica. No para un hombre acostumbrado a defenderse de sus enemigos en el campo de batalla. La idea daba vueltas sin cesar en su cabeza. Y, por un momento, se imagino estar en las sandalias del carpintero. Golpeado. Humillado. Recibiendo los insultos de cientos de personas sedientas de su sangre inocente. Y todavía, en silencio, sin renegar de nada… Sin embargo, cuando recordó que este Nazareno en verdad era inocente, se dio cuenta de que él no podría estar en sus zapatos. Reconoció que si él estuviera en el lugar del Mesías, la gente tendría razones verdaderas para condenarlo. Pilato sabía que no sería juzgado como inocente. Su conciencia estaba llena de muertes e injusticias. Su ejecución sería justa. Su cabeza rodaría como precio por sus culpas. Y la sociedad se hubiera deshecho de un desalmado romano invasor. Esa sería la justicia que terminaría con la vida del procurador.La increíble serenidad de Jesús, había logrado desmantelar la conciencia de Pilato. Había escarbado hondo. Pilato sentía como si sus errores, culpas, y pecados más profundos, salieran a flote ante la sola presencia, serenidad, silencio, e inocencia de este carpintero Nazareno. La sola idea de ejecutar a un hombre totalmente inocente, lo hizo sentirse más digno de muerte que este Jesús de Nazaret.-Yo no veo ningún mal en Él- era su declaración. Estaba más que sorprendido. Nunca había visto tanta inocencia junta. Por un momento se sintió prisionero. Atrapado. Condenado por su propia conciencia. Y por si fuera poco, tenía que tomar una decisión dilemática. Por un lado tenía a este hombre. Inocente. Sin duda alguna. No tenía que hacer un extenso y tedioso juicio para comprobar su inocencia. Su silencio lo decía todo. A pesar de ser inocente, no haría nada por defenderse, y eso era como un dardo que se hundió en el pecho del romano y saco a flote la humanidad tan escondida de este. No quería condenarlo.Por otro, tenía una turba enardecida. Enloquecida. – ¡Dice ser Rey de los Judíos!- era la acusación. – ¡Si lo sueltas no eres amigo de Cesar!- advertían otros. Y la mayoría dijo – ¡No tenemos más rey que Cesar!-. Un pueblo encaprichado por desaparecer a un hombre a quien despreciaban por decir solamente la Verdad. -La Verdad. ¿Qué cosa es la Verdad?- preguntó incrédulo. ¿Qué cosa es lo que este hombre diría como para que todo Jerusalén quisiera mandarlo a la cruz? ¿De qué Verdad estaba hablando? ¿Cuál era la verdad que hizo posible tal odio? ¿Será acaso verdad que es un Rey? Si lo es, ¿donde están sus súbditos?¿Sera acaso en verdad este el libertador que todo Israel esperaba? Si lo es, ¿por qué no pelea? ¿Por qué en vez de organizar una revuelta y preparar un ataque al imperio romano, permite que sea insultado y acusado de cosas que nunca ha hecho y de otras totalmente absurdas? ¿El Mesías? Preguntas difíciles para alguien que nunca escuchó acerca de Dios; bueno, del Dios de los Hebreos, porque Pilato también cree en la divinidad. De hecho tiene no un solo dios, sino muchos, pero él no concibe la idea de un dios que se deje ultrajar de la peor manera. Pero, ni todos sus dioses han podido sacar de él, el sentimiento que le provoca este noble carpintero llamado Jesús de Nazaret. Si supiera…Ahora solo le quedaban las preguntas más profundas. ¿Será acaso que ellos también pudieron verse como Pilato cada vez que Jesús predicaba, y no soportaron la idea? ¿Será acaso que también ellos al ver al Mesías y al oírlo, se sentían más dignos de muerte que Él, porque sabían realmente que era inocente? ¿Será Su Verdad, la verdad de lo que somos los humanos, y de lo que realmente merecemos?Dicen que “la Verdad no peca (que verdad tan grande), pero incomoda”, y eso es precisamente lo que le paso a Pilato. Le incomodo, no la presencia de Jesús, sino lo que vio en sus ojos. Al ver a alguien totalmente inocente se sintió culpable. Encarcelado. Y creo que, si hubiese sido en otras circunstancias, y si Jesús le hubiera dicho -¡Sígueme!-, Pilato no lo hubiera dudado mucho. Pero ahora lo que más quería era dejarlo en libertad. Tal vez para no sentirse tan culpable.No así los judíos. Estos, al verse y saberse culpables, se sintieron ofendidos. Su orgullo estaba herido. ¿Quién se creía este Nazareno para decirles la verdad de lo que eran? Ellos eran doctores de la ley. Maestros de la Palabra. Cuidadores y guardas de la ley eterna de Dios. ¿Que podía saber un carpintero pobre? Y, ¿Cómo es que sabía tanto? -¡Demasiado!- dirían todos los escribas.Sin embargo, por ser víspera de la Pascua, y como un acto de “bondad” del imperio, era ya una tradición que se liberase a un prisionero. Una celda tenía que abrirse y una sentencia tenía que dictarse. Esta era la oportunidad para liberarlo. Mil razones para liberarlo, y mil y un pretextos para condenarlo. La injusticia más grande que el hombre haya cometido. Y Pilato, estoy casi seguro, que no quería ser parte de ella y mucho menos cometerla.

Love is a remedy for an ancient wound inflicted on us by the gods, who divided us in two as a punishment for our arrogance. Since those primordial times, each of us is only half of himself, searching relentlessly for completion.Socrates however explained that we don’t yearn for the half or the whole unless it is good. By this he means that the motive force in love is a yearning for goodness, not just completion. From this he concludes that love is always directed towards what is good, indeed that goodness itself is the only object of love. When we love something, we are really seeking to possess the goodness which is in it. Not temporarily of course, but permanently. Upon this, Plato defines love as a desire for the perpetual possession of the good. Hence, what is truly beautiful must be good and what is truly good must be beautiful. Every relationship that seems to begin with good love does not always last longer. No individual opts for a beauty that is not even good. But along the line, something that is good turns to be bad. The reason for this is that the perception of a true love is often misplaced. I have seen a love that is as strong as the one demonstrated in the movie titled ‘Titanic’, but still, it shattered in the end when the storm of troubles set in. One would wonder the real foundation of such a love. It is expected that anything which is beautiful should also be good forever in a relationship. But many times, it is not so. Many individuals digress from their main focus for love after being into its enjoyment for some period. Nowadays, divorce cases are so prevalent in our society that one begins to ask rhetorically why people still love. When love is first conceived, it is like a new baby that is handled with care and extreme affections by everyone. But later, it may turn otherwise. At the beginning of a relationship, no one may intend to hurt each other; but love inadvertently collapses if not well understood and managed properly. Many presume that love shows understanding, but in some cases the understanding does not really work things out. The report you get from the affected lovers is sorry I can no longer cope. I would like to begin my explanations for love by re-introducing its definition as a sensation of interest which brings two minds of similar feelings together with the tendency of adjusting to individual differences as they occur and while the relationship lasts. Love is blind to spousal mistakes and it endures for life. Love however transforms to a relationship. Many people love for different reasons among which are: (1) Financial Interest: This is one of the most common reasons why people love. Money and love are sometimes directly proportional. Money is a medium of attraction to an opposite sex and it arouses quick interests among the ladies. A man may not truly have the qualities that a lady wants, but if he is rich love tends to occur. Many rich men get away with ladies of high class, though not applicable to some ladies of principles. A man can have all the riches in the world but still may not get a lady he desires, if none happens to be sensitive to his wealth. While money is important in every love, it is necessary to note that not all love survives basically on money. Any love that is totally based on money does not last. This is the reason why many ladies rush out of their relationships, even when a lot of money is there for them to enjoy. Money does not correspond to true love. All it does is raising the interest up gradually and bring it down suddenly. Any person that loves for money loves for a temporary sense of it and may not get the real satisfaction in the long run. Some men even go to extreme and maltreat their ladies deliberately after they already have got their love with money. To some extent, a rich man may choose to get more love with his money, one after the other, and his woman may choose to endure or quit the relationship. Therefore, a true love is misconstrued. (2) Bearing of Children: For the purpose of getting children, many people fall in love. This is also common to most people. The two parties may not really exhibit a true love but for the purpose of bearing children, they come together and start love with the same objective. Meanwhile at every disagreement, they reference children as their reasons for being in love. In any case, love is not expected to degrade but rather continues to kindle with time. Many women don’t even acknowledge their spouses as their real love; instead they refer to their children. The excuse of misrepresenting children for one’s love is sometimes disheartening, when the issue of love is talked about. This way, the existing love dwindles with increase in age of the spouses. The older the relationship, the lesser the love becomes. This explains the reason why many spouses tend to fight easily as their time of love gets older. If you look around, you would see many old couples disagreeing many times with one another, even though they live together under the same roof. This happens because children are being born and their major mission fulfilled regardless of their love that started well. It may be good to love for bearing children but the old affection should constantly be maintained at all points in a relationship.(3) The Fear of Age or Cultural Reasons: Love tends to happen unwillingly when people become too sensitive to age. Ladies believe that they have a limited reproductive cycle, and so, they begin to worry for a relationship as they grow old. Many at times, they misconceive love and fall into wrong hands. Even if a lady is older than all the mothers around, she should not let age induce her into any love affair. Many people rush into the available love and not the perfect love, just because they want to meet up with a certain age. At first, this kind of love may appear real and natural, but it never lasts. Always take your time and be very sure before you establish a love. Let everyone around you love or be loved, it will still get to your turn one day. Do not even get into love for any cultural reason. Belief is always a belief, and not always an occurrence. If Janet Jackson could even give birth at age 50, not to even mention the instance of Sarah in the holy bible; who says your time is limited? All that matters is a long life love with satisfactions.(4) Peer Influence: When it comes to love, many youths get influenced easily by their mates. This way, the real purpose of love may be unknown. Indeed, no true love is seen in this situation. What happens here is a mere friendship of time and it lasts for a while. No understanding or focus, everything is just done as induced by the peers. This category happens for the fun of it and not for the concrete interests. Here the parties find themselves in what may seem to be love, but not really love. This can simply be called youthful exuberance because he or she just wants to emulate his colleagues without having a deep or any understanding of the real game.(5) Personal or Natural Interest: Most times many people find themselves in loves that they cannot explain. This can be a coincidence of interest. Many people fall in love when their imaginary quality in a man or lady is found. They love because of the overwhelming beauty they have noticed, and so, may not be able to resist the emotional impulse. Many even love because of some personal qualities like stature, intelligence, good character and power. It is not a probability paradox that this category of love tends to last longer. Often times, an intellectual satisfaction is noticed in this, even if anything goes wrong any moment. Natural interest is always difficult to expunge. This is the reason why most spouses disagree and even come together quickly without any external intervention. If you ask them what has happened they won’t just be able to substantiate their explanations. This is because both are naturally compatible. Troy Jollimore even explains that love is an emotion, but there are more than simple feelings involved. Love is also a perception of value and a commitment of will. Feelings come and go, but along with this ebb is a consistency of decision to be devoted to someone. (6) Change of Status: Some people love because they want to respond to the stimulus of change in status. Perhaps, they do not want to be referred to as single or divorced. All they want is not a real love but a change of title like every other successful spouse. They just want to be referred to as ‘Mr’ or ‘Mrs’, not minding the concrete prerequisite of being in love. Yet they return to the status quo when their relationship is botched. People in this category are sometimes perceived to be proud, but they are never. Instead, they have missed the direction from the beginning. The real rationalism of love is just being misplaced. This is why we see perfidy in love most times, because the assumed love was never even there. In many cases, the two parties may disagree or separate and never want to see each other again in life.(7) Individual Belief: Many individuals go into love because of religious norms or for the sake of being canonical. Hence, they are not mindful of the logics of love. Many spouses get into love because the holy books have recommended it that a man shall leave his father and mother to start his own personal family; or probably because it stated that one should be fruitful and multiply. They therefore start a love without any critical rationalism or proper awareness. This category of love is perfunctory by inductive reasoning. Even if the holy books recommend love, one still needs to go for orientation and counseling by the priests in order to evaluate his preparedness for a true love. After a strong counselling and serial testing, the priest can tell each person the quality of his love towards the other. This practice makes love even better at times, because it won’t be compromised easily. However as the bulk of the evidence shows, I can boldly say no true love can ever happen among three or more. A real relationship love simply exists between two individuals (i.e. a man and a lady) and no rational theory proves any deviation or contrary. The amendment that our laws even put in place for a digression from the above is that one must have divorced, but not be in any active relationship and still intends to engage more love. The essence is that we are human, and of course, there should be rooms for our mistakes or second chance. And, Plato even tells us, everything begins where we used to think that everything ended. But above all, the holy bible confirms that love doesn’t see mistakes, let alone being angered to the extent of separation.
